A Resilient Community Remembers
On Friday morning, Sept. 27, 2025, Hurricane Helene crashed into WNC, preceded by several days of heavy rain. What happened in the days to follow will have a profound impact on our community for years to come. Following the storm, the YWCA was uniquely positioned to serve as a hub and distribution center for our community and the Southside thanks to our central location and continued wifi access. We were awed by the outpouring of love and support we both received and were able to give. On this one-year anniversary, we are celebrating the strength and resilience of our community by revisiting some of the stories we shared in the days and weeks after the storm.
