Safe Beginnings: Week Without Violence 2025

Each October, YWCA of Asheville, along with YWCA USA and World USA, participates in the Week Without Violence (WWV). This is an opportunity to come together and advocate for a safer world for women, girls and families. The theme of this year’s WWV is Safe Beginnings: Protecting Mothers, Nurturing Futures. Each day during the week will have a different focus, allowing us to raise awareness and center survivors, as we work to end gender-based violence.

Day 1 - will focus on advancing equity in maternal and infant health

Day 2 - ending violence in pregnancy

Day 3 - advocating for the right to raise children in stable homes

Day 4 - understanding the barriers mothers face as they seek to leave dangerous situations

Day 5 - focusing on the critical role of legal systems in protecting mothers and their children

Follow us on our website, on Facebook, and Instagram during the WWV to read stories of survivors, celebrate their resilience, and access resources and learn how you can be an advocate for a safer, more just world. This year, the Week Without Violence is October 20 - 24.
