Memoir writing has a transformative power and a vital importance when folks, especially women, claim and tell their unique, yet universally connective stories, firsthand.
Are you intrigued by the idea of a memoir? Would you like to be able to tell the story of your life? Do you feel intimidated by the very idea of writing?
Join instructor Cornelia Dolian for a 90-minute memoir writing workshop at the YW on Thursday, November 12, from 2:30 - 4 pm. The workshop is free and open to all members of the community, but space is limited. You’ll learn the elements of the genre, and understand what a memoir is, and what it isn’t. You’ll get support and suggestions from Cornelia about your memoir’s central story, and find out where to begin collecting and compiling the building blocks of your memoir.
Memoir writing can be creative, compelling, even therapeutic, work. A memoir is an opportunity to pass along the stories of your life, and can even be a way to make sense of that life. This 90-minute workshop will give you the basic tools to begin creating a rich and compelling narrative.
Cornelia Dolian has a Master’s Degree in English Education, and a professional coaching certification; she has taught memoir writing throughout WNC.
If you’ve thought about writing your story, but didn’t know where or how to start, this workshop is for you. “Telling Your Story” can give you the tools you need to write about your life with increased clarity, ease, direction, and less frustration.
