Empowerment Childcare offers short-term free childcare solutions to help families thrive.

The YWCA provides up to 12 hours of free childcare per week for parents who are in transition, continuing their education, accessing social services or looking for employment. We work closely with the Family Justice Center, Buncombe County Department of Health and Human Services, A-B Tech, Green Opportunities, and Mary Benson House.

Empowering Women: Mandy's Empowerment Childcare Story

Empowerment Childcare Center Hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
  • Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

A-B Tech Childcare Partnership

A-B Tech Community College and the YWCA are working together to provide childcare for current A-B Tech curriculum and continuing education students. A-B Tech students receive 12 hours of free childcare per week. Pay-by-the-Hour Childcare

Are you a busy parent in need of convenient hourly childcare?  The trained staff in our Empowerment Childcare Center also offers affordable, quality childcare for families who do not qualify for free care. Up to 4 hours per visit. Reservations are required. Learn more about YWCA’s Pay-by-the-Hour Childcare service.

Due to inclement weather, YWCA of Asheville will be on a 2-hour delay on  Thursday, November 15th. The building and all programs, including the Fitness Center, Aquatics, Early Learning Program, and Empowerment Child Care, will open at 9:30 am.
