Since 1907, women’s empowerment has been at the heart of YWCA Asheville’s work.

The organization’s original charter in 1897 was to provide safe housing for working women. Today, the YWCA combines a history of initiatives for women’s empowerment and advocacy for gender justice, for and with women, into transformative programs for women to change their lives and the lives of their families.

Programs for Women

YWCA Asheville Women’s Empowerment is a proud partner with Working Wheels. Working Wheels recycles and repairs donated cars, transforming them into working wheels for working families in Western North Carolina. Through our partnership, YWCA connects women in our programs with Working Wheels.

Your health and the health of our community is our top priority. As such, we are closing YWCA facilities to the public and transitioning into a community resource center.

  • Our gym facilities and childcare are closed until May 15th.
