New Community Classes

There’s a lot happening at the YWCA this spring! We’re excited to offer four new Community Classes, and the first one begins on April 27!

First up is Community Qi Gong, a 12 week course running Saturday, April 27 - July 20th, from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Qi Gong is a holistic set of exercises incorporating various postures and slow physical movements, accompanied by concentration, breathing techniques and meditation. Qi Gong improves balance and coordination, enhances physical and emotional energy, and promotes well-being through an appreciation of the cycles and wisdom of nature. Join instructor David Ezra for this ancient Chinese practice. This course is free for both YW members and the General Public.

Next is an 8-week Athletic Conditioning program, beginning Friday, May 3rd, from 8 - 9 am in the Fitness Studio, and outdoors! This program aims to enhance your conditioning, strength, speed, agility, and power by engaging in high-intensity workouts. The class combines strength training, HIIT, plyometrics, kickboxing, and step to offer a diverse training experience. Instructor Delia Bailey will challenge you to reach a new level of fitness. YWCA member cost: $40, Community cost: $80.

A 4-week Nia course begins Monday, May 6 - June 10th, from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Nia is a movement program combining the precision and power of martial arts, the expressiveness of dance, and the nurturing and spiritual aspects of healing. Nia addresses your body, mind, emotion, and spirit with movement and creativity. Instructor Carolyn Teeple-Pauly will guide you through the joy of Nia. YWCA member cost: $20, Community cost $40.

The 6-week Chair Yoga series is designed to bring you deeper into your yoga practice, using a chair as a tool for support. Use of a chair as your main prop allows you to experience the full depth of a yoga practice, making your practice richer and more accessible. This series runs Tuesday, May 7 - June 11 from 8:45 - 9:45 am. Instructor Nancy Kirkland is a certified Hatha Yoga instructor. YWCA member cost: $30, Community cost: $60.

Registration is required. Click here to reserve your spot, or email HealthandWellness@ywcaofasheville.org.
