The A-B Tech Childcare partnership program provides student parents the support they need to pursue their education.
A-B Tech Community College and the YWCA of Asheville are partnering to provide free childcare for current A-B Tech curriculum and continuing education students at the YWCA’s Empowerment Childcare Center located at 185 South French Broad Avenue.
Free Childcare: How it works
- AB Tech students receive 12 hours of free childcare per week.
- Additional hours are available at the rate of $5 an hour per child.
- Reservations are required.
- Students must apply to the A-B tech Childcare Program and schedule an intake appointment before accessing care.
Applications are also available at the college in the Bailey Student Services Center on A-B Tech’s Asheville Campus.
Providing childcare for A-B Tech students is part of the mission of YWCA.
Through our Empowerment Childcare program, we offer free and reduced-cost childcare for parents who are in transition, facing a financial crisis, continuing their education, or looking for employment. Our Empowerment Childcare staff also help connect women and families to additional resources. Learn More about YWCA’s Empowerment Childcare.
