We are excited to announce two new fall Empowered Self-Defense Classes in partnership with Our VOICE. The first workshop will meet twice weekly from Oct. 13 to Nov. 1, from 5:30 to 6:45. Workshop II will begin on Dec. 4, and run until Dec. 20, also from 5:30 – 6:45. The workshop will bring a holistic, trauma-informed approach to personal safety. You will learn tools to combat the whole spectrum of violence, from verbal harassment to physical violence. You will learn skills designed to interrupt violence with physical techniques, as well as ways to listen to intuition, to assert boundaries, and use de-escalation. In all sessions of the workshop you can expect to have close physical contact to learn self defense skills. The class is open to women (trans & cis), and non-binary persons, ages 14 +.
Your instructors will be Michal Tolk (she/her); YWCA Instructor and Jiu Jitsu instructor, and Mercy Sosa (she/her); Adult Prevention Educator, Our Voice.
Registration is required, and the cost is $60 for YW members and $80 for the general public. Register here.
