YWCA facilities close to the public to transition into a Community Resource Center
YWCA Members, Childcare Families, and Program Participants
Your health and the health of our community is our top priority. With that in mind, we are closing YWCA facilities to the public and transitioning into a community resource center. Our closing will be implemented as follows:
- Monday, March 16 as of 9:00 pm – YWCA Fitness and Aquatics programs are closed
- Monday, March 16 – All YWCA Programs not scheduled to be held remotely are canceled
- Tuesday, March 17 at 6:00 pm – YWCA Childcare is closed (Early Learning, NC Pre-K, Headstart, Empowerment Childcare, and A-B Tech childcare). We are hopeful that this will allow families time to make other arrangements.
These closures are in effect until May 15, 2020. However, as the Buncombe County COVID-19 status changes, this date might also change.
While we are closed to the public, we are transitioning our site into a Community Resource Center in order to continue assisting our community through this time. Starting Tuesday, March 17, we are partnering with Manna Food Bank to package and deliver food for folks in need in our community.
We will be offering Emergency Childcare to first responders, healthcare workers, and essential county personnel from ages 0 – 12 years. The center will operate from 7:30 am – 6:00 pm with lunch provided for $15/day.

We are in this together, and with your help, we can make sure the most vulnerable among us make it through this crisis.
