Many companies have creative incentive plans to encourage their employees to work out and get fit. This saves the employer on healthcare costs, and is a great bonus for staff. Ways that some local companies are encouraging employees to exercise include:
Paying all or a portion of the Club W membership fee. Paying a set amount towards the Club W membership fee for full-time employees. Paying the Club W membership fee for executive or management staff. Paying a flat fee toward the Club W membership for employees. Commit to a YWCA sponsorship and receive an automatic discount for all your employees!
Provide Employees with the Opportunity to Volunteer
There are myriad opportunities to volunteer for the YWCA of Asheville:
Child Care Center (children six weeks to K) -- In conjunction with the staff, provide loving care with the small children in the Child Care area. You can volunteer as little or as often as you like, and you do not have to change diapers! Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis. Background checks are necessary.
Afterschool (children K to 6th grade) - Academic Coaches -- some of the children in our Afterschool need one-on-one attention to help keep their grades on par. Coaches help with homework on a schedule suitable to them. Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis. Background checks are necessary.
MotherLove (pregnant and parenting teens) - Mentors -- young mothers and mothers-to-be need caring competent adults who can help them stay in school. Mentors commit 8 hours per month to a young mother. Volunteers are needed on an ongoing basis. Background checks are necessary.
Done in a Day Projects -- The YW has a large Edible Garden and a new extensive Natural Learning Playground. Both spaces need regular maintenance, including weeding, watering, planting, and fertilizing. We can use large groups of workers at any time during the year.
