What We Do

We are dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, nurturing children and promoting health. YWCA of Asheville programs bridge gaps in education, healthcare, childcare and earning power for women and families in our community.

YWCA of Asheville advocacy efforts reflect our mission and the values of our organization here in WNC. We promote solutions to improve the lives of women, girls and people of color in Asheville, Buncombe County and across the country.

YWCA's Advocacy Committee, made up of members of the board of directors, staff and volunteers, works each year to prioritize policy issues and advocacy activities that our organization will focus on.

YWCA Asheville 2018 Advocacy Agenda includes focus areas that align with our mission-based programs and support our direct service work:

  • Racial Justice & Civil Rights
  • Early Childcare & Education
  • Voter Engagement
  • Empowerment & Economic Advancement of Women and Families
  • Health & Safety of Women and Families
  • LGBTQ Rights
